We have learnt the phoneme d

We have explored d, looking at dinosaurs and role playing doctors.

We have learnt the phoneme m

We explored the magnets and made magical mixtures. We also read a poem called magic box and thought about what we would like to put in our own magic box.

We have learnt the phoneme n

We learnt about numicon and the Numberblocks and played some number games in maths. We enjoyed making necklaces and counting carefully 5 beads onto the string.

We have learnt phoneme i

We explored insects and illuminated them! We also played lots of instruments!

We have learnt the phoneme p

We all talked about pets we have or pets we know and learnt about the schools pets – the guinea pigs, Biscuit and Fudge.

We learnt the phoneme t

We found a tent in our outdoor area and enjoyed reading the story of the Tiger who came to tea in it (while eating our snack). We put our phonic knowledge into action when helping the tiger decide what he could take for tea at Sophie’s house. The tiger could only take items that started with the /t/ sound.

We had a tea party, played with trucks in the gravel pit, practised sorting objects according to their initial sound and worked on recognising both the lower and upper case t. We had a go at forming the letter t too.

What a busy morning Class R!

Our First Woodland Wednesday

We enjoyed our first Woodland Wednesday in the glorious September sunshine!

We have had the best morning helping Brown Bear who we found in our storytelling area this morning. Brown Bear came to our school to tell us a story but sadly all of the characters and their colours had gone missing in our woodland area.
Our mission (as worded by one of our Class R pupils) was to find the animals and their colours to put the story back together.

Brown Bear was very pleased to see us working so well with our partners to find the characters and their colours, and put the story back together. We enjoyed the story with Brown Bear. In the end, he was happy and so were we!

We learnt the phoneme a

We picked the apples from the garden orchard to help us remember our new phoneme. Some of us helped to cut up the apples so we could put them in the dehydrator and make apple crisps. We really enjoyed eating the apples!

Learning the phoneme s

We learnt the phoneme s and did lots of exploring – we explored snails, sunflowers, sunflower seeds, sand, stones, slates, made snakes from playdough and lots more!
