Admissions

Hodnet is a popular school, and over the past few years the number of applications in some year groups has exceeded our pupil admissions number of 29. In these circumstances the Local Authority admissions policy and appeal procedure can be actioned.

Hodnet school’s current admissions policy for pupils, including those with disabilities, is operated by the Shropshire Local Authority (LA). Please contact school in the first instance if you would like to enquire about a place, then follow the link below to complete the application for the LA to process.

In-Year Admissions

From 1st September 2024. Shropshire Council will be coordinating and allocating all requests for places at our school. We welcome prospective parents to visit our school.  If you wish to apply for a place at our school, please complete the online application form via this link – Synergy – Homepage (shropshire.gov.uk)

Your application will be processed by the School Admissions Team at Shropshire Council in accordance with our school’s oversubscription criteria. You will then be notified via letter of the outcome of your application.

What to do next…

You are very welcome to visit our school by prior arrangement with our head teacher. We invite children to visit school prior to admission to allow teachers to get to know the children. This way children make a more secure and speedy start to their school learning.

Nationally Infant (Reception, Year 1 & Year 2) class sizes are limited to 30 pupils per class, however there are specific exceptions to this rule, please contact school or the LA admissions team for more information.

Children wishing to attend our school are eligible for admission as follows:
Children who were born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 can start primary school from September 2025 (the beginning of the academic year after their 4th birthday).
Children who were born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 can start primary school from September 2024 (the beginning of the academic year after their 4th birthday).
