Early Family Support

They pass this way only once, so we should aim to litter their pathways with quality experiences.

At Hodnet Primary School, we aim to support families at the earliest possible point to ensure we are being effective in our aim to support all children and families and be proactive in our caring role and duty.

We can support families by working with our specialist partners or by offering support to children and families directly within school.

We can:

  • Offer specific programmes to support children’s academic gaps in knowledge. Please see your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
  • Offer specific programmes to support children’s wellbeing, anxiety, physical needs, sensory needs and behavioural challenges. Mrs Mason is our pastoral intervention lead and can support children and families with specific CBT and bespoke programmes to meet the needs of children. Please see Mrs Lyall and/or your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
  • Offer programmes to support our armed forces families with specific needs at specific times, for instance supporting at a time of family member deployment or posting. Please see Mrs Lyall or Mrs Mason for further information or support.
  • Refer families to the school nursing team for a range of needs. Please see Mrs Lyall for further information.
  • Refer families to the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in North Shropshire. They can provide a range of bespoke support for families with trained professionals to work with children and families who may be experiencing anxiety, stress or behavioural challenges. Miss Darmanin is our Mental Health lead and can support with any queries about this service. Please see Mrs Lyall and/or your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
  • Refer families to the Early Help support team to support with a range of needs including but not limited to; housing support, financial support, emotional well being, safeguarding, family or parenting support.
  • Refer children to the Bee U service for specialist team support referrals and diagnosis seeking referrals.

Early Help

Early Help was re-launched in July 2024 as part of our focus on early intervention and prevention. The Early Help website has been updated and can be found here. The webpages also include full details of E-HAST (Early Help and Support Team) which is a single point of contact for partner agencies, children, young people and their families, focused on making sure that the right support is put in place as soon as it is needed.
