Family Hub 4.2.25 save the date

We will be offering a family hub drop in service led by the family support team. These are going to be on a monthly basis and are usually in Market Drayton, however we are delighted that we can now host them in school, meaning that more people will be able to access advice, support and specific workshops.

The first event will be in school on Tuesday 4th February between 9am and 11am.

More details to follow.

Recycling uniform scheme

A reminder that we have 3 large boxes full of uniform in the lobby area. Please pop in and take some! At the moment we are getting more donators than users, so its starting to mount up.

The uniform is free to take, please feel free to come and look and take some. We want to be sustainable in addition to supporting families, so please utilise this offer.

National Storytelling week… a reminder

Monday 3rd to Friday 7th February is Storytelling week, organised by the National Literacy Trust, which we plan to address in school this year through shared story sessions and accessing some live storytelling workshops with award winning authors and storytellers. Throughout the week classes with join together to sharing stories with each other. On Monday afternoon we will have our first story telling session where the older children will be paired with younger children and they will have the opportunity to both read stories and tell stories together. Later in the week our teachers will swap classes for the end of the day story time to share stories with different classes. Our daily assemblies will be focussed on the art of storytelling and focussing on the theme of reimagining our world. We look forward to welcoming families to participate in Storytelling week through our DEAR session on Friday 7th Feb at 3pm.

What is National Storytelling Week?

This fantastic annual event is a joyful celebration of the power of sharing stories. Stories teach us about the world; they allow us to step into someone else’s shoes and feel empathy; they help us to relax and escape and they can help develop essential literacy skills.

What is our theme for National Storytelling Week?

The theme for National Storytelling Week 2025 is ‘Reimagine your world’. Whether it’s something unexpected on your way to school, odd sounds you hear at night, or a path you’ve never followed, the world around us is full of secret lives, places and possibilities. The most extraordinary story can come from the most ordinary place: it just needs someone to find it.

Parking

We ask politely that parents please park respectfully and within the law.

We’ve had a complaint from a member of the public about inconsiderate parking at the entrance to the WMC, meaning that the road is partially blocked making it difficult for other drivers to see or judge the oncoming traffic on the main road. The main road, Shrewsbury Street, also has cars parked at length causing a blockage for cars trying to get safely through the village. We recognise that this is just a pinch point times throughout the day, but it is making the main road more unsafe at busy times.

Please don’t park at the entrance to the WMC, this not only blocks the footpath for our children, but it also causes a hazard on the main road. It is not safe and could lead to a dangerous or potentially catastrophic accident. Our children deserve a safe route to school, we all need to play our part to enable this. We have referred this to the local police who will continue to monitor our parking.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Mrs Lyall, Headteacher.
