Please can parents/carers ensure that children are fully equipped for their school day in the summer. Children need:

• A sun hat.
• A full water bottle containing only water – no juice please.
• Sun cream already applied before school – staff cannot apply this throughout the day. Children can bring a roll on provided they can do this themselves, however this is not ideal as it can get messy! It also takes up their valuable playing time, so before school is more preferable.
• Trainers in school for the mile run.

We have been informed that a pupil is being treated for headlice in class 4. Please be vigilant and check your children’s hair regularly. Children can remain in school as normal, but we kindly ask that the headlice are treated to try to prevent the spread. Where possible, hair should ideally be tied up for school anyway, again this helps to prevent the spread in addition to helping children to focus without distractions in their face.

Today we celebrated reading in our celebration assembly, with praise for lots of children for their reading at home and reading throughout the curriculum in school.

In September we will be welcoming Mrs Johnson back to a permanent teaching role in our school. Mrs Johnson has worked for us for a number of years covering maternity leaves and working on a temporary basis and assisting when we need supply teachers, so she is well known to our children and staff. We are thrilled to welcome her to work alongside Mrs Noden in our Reception class next academic year. She will be in school throughout this term as we prepare for the new intake through our transition arrangements.

In September our Reception class is full with a waiting list, we are delighted that so many families have chosen us as partners in their child’s education.

Over the course of this term I will be updating children and families about September staffing arrangements in preparation for our move up morning on 2nd July.

Thank you for your continued support this term. We wish you all a happy Easter break and family time together.

• Storytelling week – great to see so many people showing their love of reading adn our children sharing stories between classes.
• Religious celebrations or Global festivals covered in assemblies or in class – Lunar New Year, Holi, Eid, Mother’s Day
• Getting our Guinea Pig school pets – we love to watch them, read to them and stroke them.
• Online safety focus week
• Oakerwood residential and other class educational visits and visitors
• World book day fun!
• Aladdin Trouble performance – simply brilliant!
• Class assemblies and parents evenings to showcase our children’s achievements.
• Sporting success – reaching county finals, medals, local competitions and showcasing our skills.

We look forward to the Summer term together.

• There is no cookery club in the first week back.
• Cookery club is now full.
• Please can all absences be notifiable to the school office, not on other forms of communication such as Tapestry. In line with policy, parents must inform the school office before 9.30am if their child is not in school, a valid reason must be given, thank you.
• Remember to book wraparound and breakfast club places for the first week back before the last Thursday in the holidays. School staff cannot book places over the holidays.
• A polite reminder to kindly inform the school office staff if your child has a change of pick up circumstances, such as collecting at 3.15 instead of their allocated wraparound booking. This ensures that our registers are correct for fire safety and safeguarding procedures.
