Safer Schools Meeting rescheduled

The safer schools meeting planned for Wednesday 4th December has been postponed and will be rescheduled for the Spring term. We will inform you of the new date over the coming weeks.

Tag Rugby Winners

Huge congratulations to our Tag Rugby teams who received high praise for their sportsmanship and their respect for the game in the competition yesterday. We entered a Y5 team and a Y6 team this year and they both did really well. Unfortunately as a competition goes, they eventually had to play each other, and the Y6 team knocked out the Y5 team. The Y6 team then went on to win overall, they won every match played.  We celebrated this in our Friday achievement assembly today and all received an applause. All children will also receive a certificate.

Illness in school

As you may be aware, we’ve had a large number of illnesses in school this week with many pupils off school with similar illnesses. Staff have also been affected.

Illnesses seen in school:

  • coughs
  • cold like symptoms
  • some with nausea (must be off for 48 hrs as per national guidance)
  • sore throats
  • shivers and temperatures

Remember to call school before 9.30am to report an absence every day that your child is absent.

We hope to be coming to the end of this run of illness and wish everyone a speedy recovery ready for next week.

Shrewsbury Ark

We will be collecting for Shrewsbury Ark homeless charity during our Christmas performances again this year. If you are able to donate, please bring cash with you to the Nativity performances and the Church Service, we cannot accept card donations.

Further information about this charity can be found on their website.

Thank you in advance for supporting this charity.

Jewellery and uniform

A polite reminder that full school uniform is expected daily.

  • Boots are not part of school uniform and are not permitted, shoes only please. Wellies/boots can be worn on the way to/from school and school shoes brought to change into if needed.
  • Trainers are only permitted for PE or exercise and should not be worn as a school shoe.
  • Leggings are not school uniform. School trousers/shorts, pinafores or skirts only please.

Jewellery:

  • Earrings – only small studs are permitted, no hoops or dangling ones please.
  • Children must be able to take our their earrings for PE themselves. Recent guidance about the use of cover tape states that earrings should not be taped for 2 reasons; firstly taping can be an infection risk and secondly there is a risk of the back of the earring causing bone damage in a collision. This risk has been identified by Sport England, due to national health and safety incident analysis.
  • Watches may be worn, any watches with interactive features or games such as apple watch connectivity, should be disabled whist in school.
  • Necklaces, bracelets or other jewellery is not permitted.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Mrs Lyall.

The Creation to Crib packs are available form the school office. Our children are excited to hang a tag on their tree every day in December and find out more about Creation to Crib.

We send huge thanks to the team of volunteers who have designed, crafted and made the packs for all local children to enjoy this Christmas period, we are very appreciative of your time and efforts.

Good luck to those aiming to name all the local places in the competition.
