Calendar – Hodnet Primary School

Thank you to those who attended our PTA meeting today, lovely to see some new faces with new ideas.

Some upcoming events to save the dates for and look out for information on Parent Pay over the coming weeks:

• Valentines Disco on Friday 14th February. 3.30pm – 4.15pm for EY/KS1 and  4.30pm – 5.15pm for KS2.
• Easter Family Bingo on Thursday 10th April 6pm.

Well done to everyone who received awards or shout outs today. We are very proud of you.

• Class R – Alice, for making super choices in her learning, what a superstar!
• Class 1 – Hattie, for her enthusiasm for learning, always being keen to join in and try your best.
• Class 2 – Georgie, for showcasing our school value of respect, always being kind and inclusive at playtime.
• Class 3 – Raya, for huge progress in her writing impressing Mrs Williams with her suspense writing.
• Class 4 – Kyaara, for a super week – always putting up her hand, offering ‘wow’ answers and being kind to her friends.
• Class 5 – Emily, for good teamwork and being positive. Also for speaking up more when answering in class.
• Class 6 –  Oliver W, for showing curiosity about his learning and always wanting to learn more.
• KS1/EY Headteacher award – Henry in class 2, for growing in confidence and persevering when explaining his learning to adults this week on our learning walks through school.
• KS2 Headteacher award – Ewan in class 3, for showing his understanding in assembly by recalling previous knowledge.
• Lunchtime award – Poppy B in class 1 for super manners.
• Raffle ticket – Grace in class 4.

Well done to everyone who received awards or shoutouts this week, we are very proud of you.

Today we celebrated reading in our celebration assembly, with praise for lots of children for their reading at home and reading throughout the curriculum in school.

We ask politely that parents please park respectfully and within the law.

We’ve had a complaint from a member of the public about inconsiderate parking at the entrance to the WMC, meaning that the road is partially blocked making it difficult for other drivers to see or judge the oncoming traffic on the main road. The main road, Shrewsbury Street, also has cars parked at length causing a blockage for cars trying to get safely through the village. We recognise that this is just a pinch point times throughout the day, but it is making the main road more unsafe at busy times.

Please don’t park at the entrance to the WMC, this not only blocks the footpath for our children, but it also causes a hazard on the main road. It is not safe and could lead to a dangerous or potentially catastrophic accident. Our children deserve a safe route to school, we all need to play our part to enable this. We have referred this to the local police who will continue to monitor our parking.

Our PTA team are meeting on Friday 24th January in school at 2pm. They will be discussing future events and making fundraising plans for the rest of this academic year. All welcome to attend and share ideas. New members are always welcome.
