PE kit requests

We would welcome spare PE kits, which are in good condition, to keep as a spares bank to provide for pupils who forget kits. Please send any donations to Mrs Rhoden.

Thank you for your generosity.

Church thank you

Thank you to the families who joined us in church yesterday, great to see so many people supporting our school.

Thank you to the parents and grandparetns who gave up their time to walk with us to church, we couldn’t walk up without you! Such a lovely walk through Hodnet Hall Gardens, thank you to the Heber-Percy family and Gardens team for allowing us to walk through, enabling our children to experience the richness of the gardens as they walk.

Our Y6 pupils walked with YR, something we started to do this year, then realised we should have been doing it for many years – it works so well! Thank you Y6 for your responsible attitudes and supporting and guiding our youngest pupils with their decision making. Also for talking to them, helping them with quality conversations and turn taking. The two classes have built up a great bond this year, lovely to see.

Finally thank you to the volunteers at St Luke’s who kindly enable us to have a termly service in their wonderful church. Something we would not be able to provide without their generosity to our community.

Freezy Friday

Thank you to everyone who has supported our PTA in their Freezy Friday mission to raise money for school. I know many of you voiced concerns regarding the losses due to the freezer being accidentally unplugged!

Great news the company have apologised and today provided a cash donation to the PTA. They are a great team of engineers who we have regularly on site, I’m pleased that they have acknowledged this and we are grateful for their donation.

Work experience pupils

A big thank you to our work experience pupils who have been excellent in school this week. Each of them attended Hodnet school for their primary education and it was delightful to have them back and see how they are getting on at secondary and support them with experiencing the world of work. They’ve worked very hard and should be very proud of themselves.

Guinea pigs

Our guinea pigs are enjoying their time outside int heir hutch and we are teaching our children to care for them and be kind, gentle and respectful. We’ve asked them today to share this message with younger siblings as some younger children are opening the hutch and poking the guinea pigs at pick up time. Whilst we want children to be encouraged to look at them and also eventually care for them, please can parents ensure that younger children are safe by the hutch. Thank you.

Church service next week

A reminder that we will be in church next Thursday for our summer service starting at 2pm. All welcome.

We will celebrate success together with class certificates, whole school awards, singing and class performances.

We are making a change to the seating arrangements for Thursday – with class R and class 1 swapping sides. Class R will now be on the right (piano side) and class 1 will be on the left (pulpit side).

Classes 3 and 4 will exit via the side door, as we tried last time – this made the collection at the end of the service much easier and quicker for all.

Please inform school via admin@hod.318education.co.uk if your child is walking back to school after the service to attend clubs or if they are due to go on the school bus which will collect form church if required.
