D&T – Investigating picture books

In D&T we have been investigating picture books, looking for moving parts. We were looking for sliders, levers and wheels. Then we can learn to make our own moving pictures!

The Magic Porridge Pot – Tasting porridge

As a hook for our new text ‘The Magic Porridge Pot’, we made a pot of porridge to taste it. We then thought of adjectives to describe the porridge. Yum!

Geography fieldwork in Hodnet

Class 1 went for a walk through Hodnet using OS maps. We looked at the symbols and colours on the map to find the features in the village.

Reading maps in Forest School

As part of our Geography topic, we have been looking at maps of the local area and features of maps. We used maps of the Forest School area to find key features. We used a key to find features and talked about the symbols used on maps.

A crime scene in Class 1!

Class 1 returned from assembly to find a crime scene in their classroom!  The area was cordoned off whilst the incident was investigated.

Class 1 found three bowls of porridge,  three chairs, a broken bed, a doll, a dress and a curl of blond hair.

 

If anybody knows who may have been in the classroom, please come immediately to Class 1!

 

Seaside Holidays in the Past

Class 1 have been learning about seaside holidays during the Victorian times. We have made a black and white film to show activities that people might have taken part in at the beach.

Sewing fish puppets

Class 1 have been making fish puppets. We first learnt to sew using a piece of felt before joining two pieces of felt together. Then we completed our fish puppets using our skills.

Class 1 find a note from a pirate!

Class 1 returned from assembly to find a note from Captain Blackbeard. He had lost his treasure! We went on a hunt following the clues to find the missing treasure. We then made our own treasure maps.
