A crime scene in Class 1

When Class 1 returned from completing their morning run, they found a number of mysterious objects in the classroom.

They found:

  • Three bowls of porridge – one big, one medium, one small
  • Three chairs and one was broken!
  • A baby-sized bed
  • A curl of blonde hair
  • A yellow dress
  • A doll

The evidence was collected and the police were informed but the question remained – who could have caused this mess?!

Cooking home grown produce at Forest School club

KS2 Forest School Club had a fantastic session cooking sausages and potatoes on the firepit. The potatoes had been planted and grown in the school garden! They also enjoyed some fresh peas that had also been grown in school. Yum!

Class 1 paint portraits at the Shrewsbury Museum

Class 1 visited the Shrewsbury Museum to learn more about portraits. We looked at portraits around the museum before taking part in a portrait painting workshop.

English – Disgusting Sandwiches

In English, we learnt instructions for making disgusting sandwiches and then we wrote instructions for our own disgusting sandwich. We then went out to forest school to make our disgusting creations!

Science – Fruit tasting

In Science, Class 1 have been learning about plants. We learnt that fruits and vegetables are plants that can be eaten. We taste tested lots of different fruits and then gave a review of them.

Class 1 found a letter from Captain Blackbeard!

Class 1 found a letter from Captain Blackbeard after assembly. His treasure had been stolen! We went on a hunt to find the treasure to return to Captain Blackbeard before making treasure maps for where the treasure could be hidden.

Art – Creating abstract portraits

Class 1 are studying portraits in Art. This week we created abstract portraits in the style of Picasso by rolling a dice and choosing a facial feature that was associated with that number.

 

Class 1 visit Hodnet Hall Gardens

As part of our Science learning on plants, we were very lucky to be able to visit Hodnet Hall Gardens to compare the wild plants and garden plants growing there. We were even lucky enough to be given a loganberry to taste and to pick our own strawberries! Thank you so much to the team at Hodnet Hall for showing us all the wonderful plants that they grow!

 

 

Computing – Controlling the beebots

Class 1 have begun to learn about programming the beebots. We learnt that robots need humans to control their actions and that the beebots need to be given instructions in simple steps. We learnt to give commands for the beebots to go forward and backwards.

Science – Planting seeds

Class 1 have begun their Science unit on plants by comparing seeds and bulbs. We have planted seeds and will observe them growing. We have also set up an investigation to watch broad beans sprouting in mini greenhouses.
