Drop off and collection procedures

Some reminders to keep our school site running efficiently and safely at the beginning and end of the school day. We now have 213 pupils on our school roll (inc Nursery) so we appreciate that our site can be busy at these times.

• Pupils are asked to stay off the grassed areas where possible before and after school. We have noticed pupils running around the trees in the morning, which can lead to accidents and dirty feet bringing mud into classrooms, please can parents prevent children from doing this before the start of the school day. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our children and our site safe.
• Children must be supervised on our school site by parents/carers before 8.45am and after 3.15pm.
• Our school day starts at 8.45am prompt.
• Breakfast club and wraparound – a reminder that parents need to bring children to the door to safely handover to a member of staff in the morning, and again at collection times, staff need to hand over to a parent in the office area, we do not enable children to walk home from wraparound on their own.
• Password system – if someone other than a parent/carer is collecting from wraparound or nursery, they need to share the unique password set up by parents. Please ensure they have this to enable them to take the children.
• If a child is being collected at 3.15pm by another parent, family member or friend, please inform the office to enable this, we will not release children to other families without prior notification.
• Parents of Y6 children who would like their children to walk home on their own, need to arrange this with Mrs Lyall, Headteacher.
• Finally, please can parents encourage their children to follow the clear rules at the end of the school day. Use of the playground equipment at the rear of school is not permitted without a member of school staff and have signage to share this. We’re sorry to be the fun police about this! but we need to keep our site safe and prevent unnecessary accidents on our equipment. This also includes younger siblings.

New menu feedback

We would like you feedback about our new menu, which we have now run for a 3 week cycle. There have been some tweaks as we adapt to the initial changes, but we would like to gather your feedback as we look at continued improvements.

Holidays in term time

Miss school, Miss out!

A reminder that family holidays in term time will not be authorised and families may be eligible for a fixed penalty notice if they take holidays in term time. The current fine is £80 per parent, per child, per week, rising to £160 is not cleared within 28 days. This is a national initiative to reduce attendance concerns. The fines are issued by the local authority, not school, and the money does not come to school or the Trust, it is retained by the local authority.

Children have 13 weeks per year of holiday time and 38 weeks of term time, when they are expected to be in school, learning and preparing for the next stages of their development.

Unfortunately we seeing a rise in family holidays during term time and we have quite a few requests at present. This is disappointing at this crucial time of the year, meaning that children are missing out on the important social skills and team building focus points in addition to their curriculum fundamentals.

Every day counts – attendance is directly linked to positive academic success and well-being, we encourage families to support us by ensuring pupils are in school, ready to learn during term time.

Macmillan cancer support coffee afternoon

Next Friday, 25th September we will be raising money for Macmillan cancer support. Children are invited to come to school wearing  Green clothes instead of their uniform and are asked to bring a cake donation and £1 cash if you can.

Parents are invited to our coffee afternoon at 2pm in the school hall. Children will be able to buy a cake after the coffee afternoon at 3.15pm. There are no set costs for cakes, we simply ask for a donation to the worthy cause.

Pupil responsibilities 2026 – 27

Today we completed our voting for Pupil Responsibilities in school. We apply a democratic process and all pupils are involved. Well done to those who ran campaigns and confidently delivered speeches.

The Eco-champions will work with Mrs Freeman and Mrs Gregory on outdoor projects this year to support the development of our school garden and grounds.
