I have reached out to the team and we hope to run some of these groups from our school in the near future, in addition the the workshops held in Market Drayton. I will keep you updated about the developments.

Fidget toys

A polite reminder to check with school staff before sending in any fidget toys. We have school approved fidget manipulatives for pupils to use should they be needed in class or around school. We also work with the school nursing team to provide support in this area. Children may need to use a manipulative to aid their concentration for a short period of time, or to support with a particular sensory need or anxiety. It is important that school staff are aware of such needs so that we can support pupils with effective strategies to overcome any barriers at particular times.

Please see Mrs Williams our SEND lead or Miss Darmanin our Mental Health lead, but always discuss with your child’s class teacher in the first instance to ensure we can work together to best support pupils.

Thank you.

Forest School – Creating spaces for animals to hibernate

In Science we have been learning about seasons and animals that hibernate in the winter. During our forest school session, we created spaces for animals to hibernate.

D&T – Investigating picture books

In D&T we have been investigating picture books, looking for moving parts. We were looking for sliders, levers and wheels. Then we can learn to make our own moving pictures!

The Magic Porridge Pot – Tasting porridge

As a hook for our new text ‘The Magic Porridge Pot’, we made a pot of porridge to taste it. We then thought of adjectives to describe the porridge. Yum!

Geography fieldwork in Hodnet

Class 1 went for a walk through Hodnet using OS maps. We looked at the symbols and colours on the map to find the features in the village.

Reading maps in Forest School

As part of our Geography topic, we have been looking at maps of the local area and features of maps. We used maps of the Forest School area to find key features. We used a key to find features and talked about the symbols used on maps.

A crime scene in Class 1!

Class 1 returned from assembly to find a crime scene in their classroom!  The area was cordoned off whilst the incident was investigated.

Class 1 found three bowls of porridge,  three chairs, a broken bed, a doll, a dress and a curl of blond hair.

If anybody knows who may have been in the classroom, please come immediately to Class 1!
