Church service

Our Easter church service planned for Thursday 26th March needs to be rescheduled due to Y6 being at Oakerwood that week. An oversight on my part. Please accept my apologies. I will confirm the new date asap. Expected to be Thursday 19th March, 2pm, but not yet confirmed.

Mrs Lyall.

Welcome back

Thank you for your kindness and generosity with staff cards and gifts. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New year.

Welcome back to the spring term, what a week it has been!

We started with our usual Hodnet steely determination, by opening on Monday in such freezing conditions. A big thank you to all those who enabled our opening, highlighting once again our strong community spirit. The children had a wonderful snow day in school, pictures on a separate post.

We end the week learning from home, not expected at all, but we have all made the best of it I’m sure. Thank you for your understanding with today’s decision to closed for health and safety reasons. As we had fallen branches in addition to the snow/ice, I couldn’t take the risk of opening in case any unseen branches or hazards posed a threat to safety on site.

Huge thank you to Mr Noden who has cleared the branches for us and walked our site with our caretaker, Jemma, satisfied that all hazards are cleared. He was up and ready to clear in preparation for us attending school this morning, great Noden team effort in a bid to keep us open! Something we always aim to do, if we can safely.  Massive thank you also to Jemma who was checking our building for power, after our outage overnight, and general condition at 6am this morning and walking our site informing me of the conditions. Great team effort as always at Hodnet school. Always proud to be part of our amazing team.

We look forward to opening as usual on Monday morning.

Our curriculum and coffee morning events will be on next week for paretns. 8.45-9.15am. Full list on our diary dates.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Lyall.

SCHOOL CLOSED 9/1/26

Hodnet Primary school will be closed today 9/1/26 due to adverse weather conditions overnight making our site unsafe.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Details:

Hodnet lost power overnight, this has been restored this morning and school has full power. We have a number of fallen branches which are blocking two school entrances, whilst we have amazing volunteers on hand to move these this morning, I have made the decision that we need a thorough check of site in the light to ensure that there are no other possible hazards which could be a danger at school. I don’t want to risk a falling branch when entering school. The roads are better than Monday, but still hazardous and we have a number of staff travelling from further afield who are unable to get in today.

Therefore the decision is to close today in the interests of health and safety.

Stay safe everyone.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Lyall.

school open today 5.1.26

School is open as usual today. Please take extra care in the wintery conditions. Children can come straight into classrooms on arrival, please do not wait outside in the freezing temperatures.

KS2 Forest Schools

Due to staff absence at the end of term, we will catch up the missed session in the new year. The planned session includes a campfire and therefore requires additional resources and risk assessments, as such, this won’t be in the first week. We will notify you in the new year of the date and further developments with this club.

Thank you for your understanding.
