Father’s Day Lunch

On Friday 20th June we will be hosting our Father’s day lunch. This is the same day as sports day, we have chosen this date with duplicate events based on feedback from previous years when families found it tricky to get time off work for multiple events in quick succession.

Please see the information on parent pay to sign up for the lunch.

St Luke’s church family weekend and competition

THIS IS OUR FAMILY

St Luke’s Church, Hodnet – Family Weekend

14th and 15th June, 10am-4pm

We invite all the children in the parish to create something which reflects an important person or people in their lives, whether it be family, friend, or pet.  This could be a painting, drawing, piece of craft, flower decoration, a poem – whatever springs to mind when thinking of that special relationship.

Closing date for entries is Friday 6th June when they will be picked up from Hodnet School.  Your entry needs to have your full name and age on the back of it or on an accompanying note.  Alternatively you can bring your entry to St Luke’s Church on Saturday 7th June between 10am and 12 noon.

Every entrant will receive a special certificate.  There will be a prize for the three best entries: ages 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.

All entries will be displayed in St Luke’s over the weekend of 14th and 15th June for everyone to see.  The church will be decorated with flowers and the historical records will be available for children to see if their parents or grandparents were christened, married, or buried at St Luke’s.

If you have a small photo of a local wedding or baptism, bring a copy to hang on our ‘family tree’.

Church tower tours will be run from 10am – 12 noon (adults only).

A special ‘Songs of Praise’ is to be held on Sunday 11am-12 noon reflecting on ‘Our Church Family’ and there will be a chance to vote for your favourite hymn to be included in the service.

Football kits

We are in need of some new football kits or general sporting kits for school and would like to know if any parents know of any local sponsorship or support towards costs.

Our children are so passionate about sport and we facilitate lots of competitions, both at inter school and county level, but we are in need of some kit to ensure we look as super as we play!

If you could support this in anyway, please see Miss Manton our PE & Sports lead or Mrs Lyall.

WhatsApp

Some of our children in a range of classes, both KS1 and KS2, have shared that they have contact with pupils outside school using WhatsApp. A reminder that the age rating guidance for using WhatsApp is 13 years old. Staff are increasingly finding that they are dealing with issues relating to fall outs or discussions using communication channels or other social media platforms, which then impacts on school life. Staff can then be occupied dealing with issues instead of leading learning. We kindly ask that families support us as we endeavour to keep children safe online and reduce online bullying impacting children’s education.

Hometime reminders

A polite reminder:

Please can we ask that children are collected promptly at the end of the school day and that children, including younger siblings, do not use the play equipment at the rear of school at pick up times. Unfortunately we’ve seen an increase in families playing on school site after school, and whilst it is lovely to see children having fun with their families, we need to ensure that our facilities are ready for our afterschool activities in addition to keeping everyone safe. Please do not encourage children to run around our ‘daily mile’ track or field at home time. There is a local park with a large field located through the WMC car park which may be of interest to families after school.

Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.

Mrs Lyall, Headteacher.

Pupil Pals by Omega

As you are aware, we engage in a nationwide initiative to provide cards to people locally who might not otherwise have any contact on special occasions. We have a box in the hall and card for children to use to create the cards (remembering not to put their name or any details on) throughout the year. The company has provided us with positive feedback on a number of occasions and certificates for our valued involvement. Omega are running a competition at the moment which some of our children may choose to enter, see the information below.

Dear Pupil Pals,

We are thrilled to invite your school to participate in an exciting and creative competition in celebration of the London Marathon 2026!

What’s the competition about?
We’re looking for talented students to create artwork that will represent the London Marathon. Here at Omega, we have the exciting opportunities for 2 places on the London Marathon 2026 and we want to create running vest with the winning children’s pictures on. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to showcase their creativity and be part of one of the most iconic events in the world.

Prizes:
The competition will have three amazing prizes for the winners:

  • 1st Prize: £30 voucher
  • 2nd Prize: £20 voucher
  • 3rd Prize: £10 voucher

The winning artwork will be featured on our running kits, posters, and webpages for the London Marathon 2026, and we can’t wait to see what your students come up with!

How to Get Involved:
The children create the artwork and send into school, we will either collect or arrange for them to be sent in the post.

Closing date: June 30th 2025

Please see the attached poster for more information.
