Brooms sticks

Today the Fairies left us a letter telling us that we had forgotten a vehicles that Mr Gumpy could have used – a broom. We read a story about Winnie the Witch and how she travelled on a broom. Then we made our own brooms and travelled around forest schools on them.

Bike afternoon

After we had spent the morning riding our bikes we compared photos of our bikes to photos of bikes from the past. We used the words similar and different. During busy jobs time the children took on roles of bike mechanics in the bike repair shop, the children took their roles very seriously! We also used bike wheel art work to inspire our own bike wheel art.

Bike day

Today we bought our bikes into school – Isaac said it was the best day at school! We rode our bikes in the morning, talking a lot about bike safety and how we could keep safe on our bikes. We chose to wear hi vis jackets as it was cloudy and grey. The children were kind and courteous to the other riders. Mrs Noden taught us about road signs and we followed a one way system. When the traffic lights were changed to red we practised stopping and not starting again until they had been changed to green. We also learnt o stop at the pedestrian crossings.

Changing seasons

The Forest Schools fairies set us a challenge to spot any changes that had occurred in the forest schools area over the Christmas holidays. We took photos of anything we spotted with the i pads. We learnt to focus in on the object we are taking the photo of using the i pads. We worked together as a team to take the photos, cooperating and taking turns.

Phoneme search outdoors

As part of our Phase 3 phonics learning we are learning to match lower case and CAPITAL letters. We took our phonics learning outside and matched CAPITAL letters and lower case letters.

Exploring musical instruments

On Thursday afternoon we explored the sounds different musical instruments made.

Frosty writing

One frosty Wednesday morning we practised letter formation “Round Gabi’s head and wrap her scarf” on the frosty playground.

Making Christmas cakes

Before the Christmas holidays we talked about Christmas traditions and we used Mrs Noden’s Granny’s Christmas cake recipe to make our own Christmas cake gifts. We also decorated them in the traditional way.

A Forest Schools Christmas treat

At the end of the Autumn Term the Forest Schools fairies sent us a treat for an in door Forest Schools session. They sent us the items to make our own hot chocolate, which we all had a go at. They also sent some delicious Christmas cakes and a pass the parcel game with a Christmas book as the prize – “Dogger’s Christmas”.

They also sent us the things we would need to make some lovely wooden disk tree decorations.

We learnt to take photos using the i pads applied what we had learnt taking photos of the new plants growing in the Forest Schools area.
