Learning the phoneme l

We had fun today learning our new letter and sound ‘l’. Have a look at our faces as we tasted lemon and lime. We explored lemons and limes more closely using the light box and had a go at observational drawing, some of us played snakes and ladders, constructed different structures with the lego and made butterflies from ‘Wow said the Owl’ using loose parts.
We’ve also really been enjoying our song: All the leaves are falling down.

Exploring textures in art

We explored different textures outside in our art lesson this week.

Autumn poetry

We read a poem about an Autumn woodland and then went outside into our woodland area to explore. We thought about what we could see, feel, hear, smell and created notes to help us write some poetry back in class.

Learning about Wales

We created information leaflets about Wales, learning about the cities, the national flower, the flag, the human and physical features and the national animal.

Artwork inspired by the outdoors

Art work inspired by the great outdoor environment at our school. We created art work in the style of Monet in our sketch books with pencil first and then  moved on to adding colour with acrylic paints.

Forest Schools Friday

This week we worked on map skills, we had a blank map of the forest schools area and a key for a new map and used this to help us make a new map. After we had finished some of us created a forest schools band and performed to our friends and some of us created a feast in the mud kitchen!

Agility

This week Mr Ward taught us about agility in PE, we used the ladders to move in different ways to help us improve our agility.

Learning the phoneme u

We have been

Parachute PE

We had lots of fun in PE on Friday using the parachute as part of our Superhero themed lesson. We travelled in different ways as superheroes, freezing when Mrs Freeze the villain said, “FREEZE”. We imagined that the colours of the parachute were our superhero capes, jogging carefully around in the same direction as each other and then under the parachute when we heard the colour of our cape. We really had to work hard as a team to lift the parachute. Well done everyone!

Parents phonics workshop

Thanks to all those parents who attended the phonics workshop yesterday, I hope you found it useful to see how our phonics teaching is delivered. We know the importance of how it underpins reading skills and that working together with parents helps children thrive. Those who were unable to attend please find the presentations and information linked at on our class page. All children were sent home with a home support pack yesterday.
