Year 5 Anglo Saxon Day at Bishops Wood Field Center Yesterday, class 5 visited Bishops Wood Field Center to experience what every day life was like for the Anglo Saxons. The children spent the morning building traditional Anglo Saxon shelters and covering them with moss and bracken. Once they were made the children got to sit and play inside them. After lunch, the children practiced their rowing skills and saw what an Anglo Saxon house would have been like. The children also had a go at three traditional Anglo Saxon jobs. They practiced spinning wool into yarn in order to make clothing, they bent and hammered copper wire into shapes to make broaches and they made pinch pots out of clay. To finish the day the children played a game.
