Trip to Ironbridge

On Friday March 14th class 5 went to Ironbridge to do some Geography fieldwork. The children were asking the questions: What draws people to Ironbridge? and What is there for visitors in Ironbridge? The children plotted landmarks and places of interest on a map of Ironbridge. They also surveyed the public to ask them why they were in Ironbridge and what they were doing there. (The children were incredibly polite when speaking to members of the public and the public were very happy to give the children their time and answer their questions). Children also collected date in the way of a tally chart as to how many shops, cafes, restaurants and hotels there were in Ironbridge.

Later in the day we walked to Jackfield Tile Museum where children learnt all about Victorian tile making and the start of the industrial revolution. Children got the opportunity to design and make their own tile to keep, which they enjoyed.
